+ Graduate Program

Our Graduate Program is designed to provide law graduates with a strong foundation for a successful and fulfilling legal career.

In Victoria, law graduates must complete either Supervised Legal Training (SLT) or Practical Legal Training (PLT) to be eligible for admission to legal practice.

By offering supervised legal training within our firm and also covering your cost of an external PLT course, BJT Legal provides graduates with:

  • Comprehensive preparation for admission: Combining real-world experience with structured external training ensures all competency areas required by the Legal Profession Uniform Admission Rules are covered.

  • Practical, hands-on experience: Graduates benefit from day-to-day legal work under supervision, with ongoing support to help them develop core legal skills in a real environment.  Graduates have access to a variety of practice areas at BJT Legal, exceeding opportunities offered by PLT alone.

  • Professional development support: Funding PLT demonstrates our investment in our future lawyers, supporting their development both academically and practically.

  • Mentoring and support: Graduates work alongside and have direct access at all times to experienced lawyers and directors, including accredited specialists. We offer tailored mentoring with a director to support your transition from study to practice.

  • Stronger graduate outcomes: The dual approach helps ensure graduates meet both the technical and ethical standards for admission whilst expanding their peer network, giving them a stronger start in practice.

We are committed to fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment where graduates are encouraged to grow, contribute meaningfully, and build lasting careers within the firm.
